Equal Exchange was founded to challenge the existing trade model, which favors large plantations, agri-business, and multi-national corporations; instead Equal Exchange supports small farmers and connects consumers
and producers through information, education, and the
exchange of products in the marketplace.

Equal Exchange Avocados

In 2013 Equal Exchange partnered with pioneering farmer cooperatives in Mexico to establish a supply chain for Fairtrade, organic avocados. Their farmer partners are located in Michoacán, Mexico, considered the ‘avocado capital of the world’.

Equal Exchange Bulk Coffee

Much of the coffee from Equal Exchange is shade-grown. “The plants that shade the coffee give shelter to birds and insects, sequester carbon and serve as a source of food for local communities. That’s not all. Shade actually helps make for a sweeter cup!” (Equal Exchange)

Equal Exchange Bananas

Equal Exchange premium bananas are grown by three small farmer cooperatives in Ecuador and Peru. Their bananas are organic and Fairtrade.

Equal Exchange Bulk Nuts

Equal Exchange has built long-term supply chains with nut farmers from El Salvador, India, Burkina Faso, Chile and the United States.

Equal Exchange Chocolate

Equal Exchange works directly with small-scale farmer cooperatives in Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Togo as part of
long-term, fair trading partnerships. They supply high-quality,
organic chocolates.
